Suzhou School. Cleverly carved to utilize the black and russet areas of the jade stone to depict a scholar playing Guqin towards the river in a mountain landscape, the upper right inscribed with a poem in cursive script; reverse depicting two scholars seated next to a pavilion on a cliff overhang above waves, the top and base drilled through a hole. Qing Dynasty period.
