A Safavid Qu'ran, Iran, early 16th century, Arabic manuscript on paper, 342 ff., with 12ll. Of black naskh to the page, two double illuminated frontispieces, opening with an illuminated double frontispiece of benedictions, followed by the sura Al-Fatiha, surah titles in bleu rayani script on gilded cartouches, verses markers in gold, floral marginal illuminations in gold and lapis, folios 310 onwards replaced during the Qajar period, original brown stamped and gilded binding, folio 13.5 x 9cm.
