A Safavid illustrated folio, Iran, 16th and 18th century, gouache on paper heightened with gold, depicting to central panel a small bird on a cream ground, against a ground of gold on while a fine green vine and polychrome flowers issue forth, a panel above and below with central inscription cartouche in white on a gold ground with outer decoration of fine gold tendrils white flowers on a cobalt ground, outer border with interlocking silver medallions and scrolling flowering vines on cobalt ground, the folio margins with gilt interlocking lattice design, folio 24.4 x 16.7cm.
