of deep rounded form with everted rim on a short foot, with raised central boss, profusely engraved to the interior and exterior with bands of inscription and inscription-filled cartouches, the exterior with twelve roundels containing images representing the signs of the zodiac, ownership inscription to base
12.7 cm. diam.
Inscriptions: including the repeat of Qur'an chapters I (al-fatihah); II (al-baqarah), verse 256-7; XX (taha) verses 5 – 8; CIX (al-kafirun); prayers; the call to God to bless the Twelve Imams and the nada 'ali quatrain; to the base, 'Its owner 'Aliyah Begum'.
