A Sampson Mordan gilt metal novelty propelling toothpick,
in the form of a flintlock pistol, the barrel marked 'S. Mordan' and '6 July 1840',
43mm long,
together with a Sampson Mordan silver propelling pencil,
of the same design, and
an unmarked silver propelling pencil in the form of a pistol (3)

Gilt metal toothpick - overall good condition with no obvious major faults
Sampson Mordan silver - overall good condition with no obvious major faults
Silver propelling pencil - the barrel can be seperated from the body of the gun and the mechanism is very stiff
The pencil appears to operate correctly, the lead itself seems smaller than 1mm, although it is very hard to measure. The pencil is without damage. and is silver, the maker's marks are rubbed as is the date and hallmark.
The toothpick is silver gilt, doesn't have cracks and functions as it should.
The small pistol/pencil is siezed up and will not open.
