A Seljuq silver and copper inlaid brass lidded inkwell, Iran, 13th century, of typical form, the base with three moulded attachment cartouches, engraved with two bands of Kufic inscription overlaid in silver either side of a band of scrolling vine, the domed lid with knop finial, decorated with kufic inscription band around sides and top on a ground of scrolling vegetal design, the knop with inlaid lobes, the base with original fabric, 11cm. high Provenance: London art market, 1998.
