A South German bone-inlaid wheel-lock rifle, dated 1656
Slightly conically tapered, round barrel with smooth bore in 16 mm calibre. Brass front sight, an arrow mark struck twice on the side of the breech. Chiselled wheel-lock with external wheel and ring hammer (locking spring of the pan cover missing). With engraved and blackened bone inlaid walnut full stock with patchbox and bone nose. On the cheekpiece an oval plaque with the date “1656” under the monogram “GAK”. Iron trigger guard, the wooden ramrod with engraved bone tip. Length 130 cm. Including a modern-day wheel-lock key with wooden handle. Length 14 cm.Condition: II -
