Finely carved depiction of a potbellied man of small stature in the typical costume of a court jester, holding a rod in his right hand. Continuously set with ten ruby, four sapphire and two amethyst cabochons. Mounted on a round, ebonised wooden base. Ivory slightly cracked. One stone with scratches. A small piece (object in the left hand) broken off. Height 24.5 cm (overall) and 15 cm (figure).The position of "court dwarf" was frequently assigned at European courts. The multiple duties of a court dwarf frequently also included the position of court jester. With CITES certificate.Attention: This lot can only be shipped within the European Union.Condition: II
