A Spanish or South Italian Lamentation of Christ, circa 1600The sculpture possibly carved in poplar wood, with remnants of the old paintwork. The Virgin Mary is shown seated, wearing a cloak and veil, holding the body of Christ in a loincloth on her lap. Christ's left forearm and the Virgin's left hand have been lost. Slight worm damage here and there, knocked, minor restorations. The back slightly hollowed with a wrought iron fastening hook. Height 75 cm.Condition: III
