A Staffordshire blue jasperware cheese dome and stand, probably James Dudson, mid-19th century, the dome with knotted rope finial and five flowerhead air holes, with garland of thistles and leaves to the top and sides of the dome and border of the stand, incised heart mark to underside, 24cm high, 31.5cm diameter
Condition Report:
The stand is heavily crazed to the centre and the crazing is filled with dirt. A piece along the rim of the stand has been broken and reattached: the crack is visible and there is a loss in that area to the underside. Traces of restorative glaze in the area of the crack, as well as around the rim noted under UV light. Some small firing cracks noted along the rim. Wear to the underside of the stand, scratches and nibbles along the footrim. The dome in overall good condition, with some small firing cracks noted. The finial with some cracks and losses to the paint. Some surface dust.
