A Studio Pottery Glazed Stoneware Bottle Vase, Late 20th Century
The wheel-thrown stoneware vase of compressed globular form features a short, narrow tapering neck terminating in a broad flattened disk rim. Decorated in variegated earth-toned glazes, one side is adorned with an abstract, calligraphic resist or brushwork motif in warm ochre, rust, and black against a mottled dark brown ground, while the reverse transitions to a smooth, warm caramel-brown glaze with subtle dark speckling. The unglazed foot rim and recessed base reveal a coarse buff clay body, signed in dark slip to the underside.Height: 7inches; Width: 9 inches.
