(A) TEAFF ATTRIBUTED FLINTLOCK RIFLE.

Beautifully inlayed flint lock rifle attributed to James Teaff of Stubenville, Ohio circa 1816 to 1864. Full octagon smoothbore hook breech barrel with blade front sight and notched rear sight. Flint safety style lock controlled by double set triggers. Full curly maple stock with German silver furniture including a beautiful "National Road" patchbox with 13 piercings, trigger guard, ramrod pipes and nosecap. Pierced winged design German silver sideplate with 6 piercings. Hidden push button release in German silver engraved toeplate. Gun also has 17 coin silver engraved inlays including a Federal Eagle on the cheekpiece, engraved barrel escutcheons, saddle plate, and floral design below cheekpiece. Neat fish inlays in front of and behind cheekpiece and shield inlay on tang. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Gun has been heavily restored with barrel lengthened by at least six inches along with added forestock wood from tailpipe to muzzle. Lock is a replacement with added wood around mortise with cracks around trigger guard with crack in trigger guard. Small crack in toe wood. Dark pitted bore with sticky mechanics.
