China, 7th century. The horse superbly modeled standing with its four feet on a flat base, with a large saddle and an upright head with expressive eyes.
Condition: Patina, wear, losses, chipping, generally fine and as expected on an excavation of this age.
Provenance: Belgian private collection, previously in the collection of Dr. P. Bernades, most likely acquired before 1965. Includes French appraisal documents from Michel Cohen as well as a TL-Test conducted by Laboratory Ralf Kotalla (no. 010431) confirming the piece's age of around 1,350 years.
