A trooper's puffer

dating: provenance: Saxony, Smooth-bore, two-stage, 16 mm cal. barrel, first octagonal, then round, with rings and small engravings at the girdle, slightly engraved at the base and stamped 'CIH' and date '1591', bell-mouthed nozzle; lock with flat plate marked 'CH' with external wheel, engraved springs, provided with safety lock and snap sliding pan cover (in working order). Wooden, blackened, full stock, engraved with scales, with bone, engraved inlays; sphere pommel with bone medallion in the center, Saxon royal coat-of-arms no more visible. Bone-tipped, wooden ramrod with iron cartridge extractor. Small defects and repairs. length 55.5 cm.
