A Tibetan silver-inlaid bronze figure of Mahakala Panjara. 15th/16th century
The lord of the pavilion tramples on a human figure prostrate on a single lotus base, holding a kartrika, a kapala and a wooden gong (gandi), wearing a tiger skin dhoti, adorned with necklaces, a snake and a garland of severed heads. The face with silver-inlayed eyes surmounted by a jewelled tiara. Base sealed, base plate incised with a double-vajra.
