A Transitional wucai famille verte vase
Shunzhi, Transitional period, mid. 17th century, China
A baluster vase on a flat unglazed base. The decoration is executed in underglaze blue and overglaze famille verte enamels and iron red. The pattern shows eight figures in a garden, the scene wraps around the vase and is closed by a large banana tree.
H 30.5 cm, D 23.5 cm
Glaze chips and fritting (mainly along the top rim). Restoration to a crack in the top rim (see photos with red arrows for affected area). Wear of the glaze and decoration from age and use.
