With russet barrel retaining some engraved and gilt neo-classical decoration over most of its length and at the muzzle, and inscribed 'Manufacture Royale A Versailles' in gold within a gold oval towards the middle, gilt octagonal breech with three gold-lined fleur-de-lys marks, gilt tang engraved with a starburst in the hollowed back-sight, rounded lock signed 'Boutet A Versaille' in gold and decorated with gold-encrusted crescent moon and starburst beneath and on the gold-lined pan, a pair of flaming urns on the tail, and further gold-encrusted decoration on the cock and steel, wooden full stock entirely covered in silver-gilt filigree (minor damage), spurred pommel, trigger-guard and muzzle-sleeve all en suite and enriched with clusters of beadwork and small diamond-shaped panels, silver-gilt trigger cast and chased with foliage behind, and plaited wire false ramrod (barrel and lock with old surface rust)
