A Urartian bronze belt fragment, Eastern Anatolia

A Urartian bronze belt fragment, Eastern Anatolia, c. 860 - 612 BC. Fashioned from sheet bronze with three horizontal bands of raised stippling, a thin strip at one edge pierced at regular intervals.4 1/4 x 2 3/8 in (10.4 x 6 cm). Nice mottled green patina. Large, wide bronze belts or girdles fashioned from sheet bronze were popular during the late 2nd - early 1st Millennium BC in several Central Asian cultures such as Urartu, Marlik and Luristan.
