A VERY FINE ENGRAVED DAGGER

Straight, double-edged blade, ribbed in the center, engraved with slightly relieved flowers on both facets until the half, on a darkened ground and with remains of antique gilding; completely gilded base, signed in Cyrillic on one facet "Zlatoust" and date "1854". Iron quillon with straight, tapering quillons ending in onion-shaped domes, with remains of gilding. Quillon block engraved en suite with the blade and gilded. Grip with ivory, rounded grip scales and ebony, central band, with double fuller on both facets. Ring-nut with framed base and ending in two shell-guards, engraved as the other elements, on a darkened ground and with remains of gilding. Pommel with two shell-guards at the base that overtake the ring-nut. Vase-shaped pommel, adorned with ellipses, hemmed with gilding and surmounted with thick petals, converging at the rear button, with remains of gilding as well. Wooden scabbard, covered with green velvet (partially worn), with fine, iron mounts. Cap with floral engravings, slightly relieved, with drawing with remains of gilding and darkened ground, lower border carved with cusps and with articulated loop on the back. Chape with the same decorations and remains of gilding. Provided with a small drag. Valuable item made with the typical quality and expertise of Zlatoust's manufactures.
