A VERY FINE IVORY FIELD CAUCASIAN KUBA RUG DATED 1881

The ivory field with all over offset rows of split flower head polychrome palmettes arranged in a distinctive traditional Kuba pattern, unusual Kuba date inscription upper left and upper right, fine quality, soft and lustrous wool within a two-tone red flower head and bracket vine border, reciprocal blue and charcoal reciprocal trefoil guard stripes, blue soumak flat weave band before the macrame ends.
