A VERY FINE SOUTHWEST PERSIAN RUG WITH BIRDS CIRCA 1890
An outstanding example with velvety lustrous wool displaying exceptional jewel tones, the dark blue field with all-over offset columns of polychrome birds or chickens supported by plants and scattered flower heads enclosed by a red border with continuous palmettes linked by curvilinear vines issuing flower heads and leaves, great supple fabric-like handle, an exceptional 19th century weaving.
Measures 80 x 49 inches.
We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.
Condition Report: Very good condition. Clean and odor free with intact though lightly worn edges, checkerboard ends close in some areas and with a very few missing rows in others, two 3 to 4 inch lines of wear proper right side where the weaving laid with a fold that became worn in a straight, very narrow line, no damage, repair or stain.
