(A) VERY NICE SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL NO. 3 SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER.

Introduced in 1878, production of these large frame revolver ceased by 1898 although sales continued until 1912. This example features brilliant factory reapplied nickel finish throughout, as denoted by a star stamped on the butt. The ribbed 6 - 1/2" round barrel has 2-line address, half moon front sight, and u-notch rear. Hammer and trigger guard are case hardened. Revolver sports a pair of checkered S&W monogram hard rubber grips. CONDITION: Excellent as factory refinished. Nearly all of the lustrous factory nickel is retained, barring some light cleaning marks and a turn line. Hammer retains significant portions of strong case colors. Trigger guard has a few flashes of color, the balance faded to patina. Grips have very fine definition. Left panel has a couple splits but appears stable. Mirror bore. Crisp mechanics.
