A VERY RARE, EARLY, LARGE PINTLE-MOUNTED MANUALLY FIRED

Of distinct form with pentagonal stock with sweep back at wrist and chiseled barrel. Early form circa 1683. Bead front sight, notch rear sight on barrel with swamped muzzle. Barrel retained by 3 straps, not inclusive of the pintle mount. Reinforced on the sides with iron plates as later remount for use aboard a ship. Geometric bands behind the muzzle and behind pintle. Breechblock additional with Ottoman decorations. Ramrod missing. CONDITION: Good, with metal a chocolate patina throughout with one area of corrosion towards muzzle, near overstrap. Stock is very good with numerous bumps, cracks, and chips with some deterioration near sweep back. Bore is good with areas of heavy corrosion. This is a wonderful example of an Ottoman cannon. EMW
