A VICTORIAN CRIMSON AND GILT JAPANNED TEA CANISTER IN THE REGENCY CHINOISERIE TASTE BARTLETT & SONS LTD BRISTOL, CIRCA 1880 Maker's label approximately 48cm high Japanner of Grocer's Tea Canisters John Bartlett was born c.1825 in London; by 1852 the firm was called J Bartlett & Son, and in 1880 it was listed at 2 & 3 Welsh Back, Bristol; in 1910 the firm was taken over by Henry Pooley & Son of Birmingham, who were in turn taken over by W&T Avery in 1914.
