Modeled as ‘La Naiade’ or ‘the source’ as a young woman dressed in a pink robe with cornflowers in shades of lavender, seated on a rocky outcrop decorated with gilt lilies and scrolling leafy vinework, an overturned water jug at her side, the gilt-bronze clock extending from a flowering branch, contained within a drum case with a white enamel dial with Roman numerals and signed Barbier le Jeune a Paris, the movement and dial probably last quarter 19th century, and surmounted by an eagle about to take flight, all on a rocaille pierced ormolu base cast with acanthus leaves and foliage
