The central field depicts Saint Nicholas of Myra frontally and half-length, wearing episcopal vestments and an omophorion. His right hand is raised in blessing, while his left holds the closed Gospel Book. At the level of his halo, he is flanked by Christ and the Mother of God, presenting him with the Gospel Book and the omophorion as symbols of his episcopal dignity. The central image is surrounded by 16 scenes from the life of the saint. The background and border have been stripped down to the levkas. Das mittlere Bildfeld zeigt den heiligen Nikolaus von Myra frontal in Halbfigur. Er traegt das Bischofsornat mit dem Omophorion. Seine Rechte hat er im Segensgestus erhoben, mit seiner linken Hand praesentiert er das geschlossene Evangelium. In Hoehe des Nimbus flankieren ihn Christus und die Gottesmutter. Sie bringen das Evangelienbuch und das Omophorion als Zeichen der Bischofswuerde. 16 Bildfelder, die Szenen aus dem Leben des Heiligen thematisieren, entourieren das Mittelfeld.
