A Mottled Yellowish Green Jade ‘Anthropomorphic Figure Dagger’, Archaic Style, 91AX

This striking vertical carving is expertly rendered from variegated amber?green jade, blending translucent golden?yellow and deep russet?brown hues across its surface. The upper section features a stylized humanoid figure wearing a headdress, with hands clasped before the chest and circular piercings on either side of the torso. Below the figure extends a sword?shaped body decorated with incised archaic scroll patterns, complemented by openwork curvilinear ornaments along both sides, tapering to a sharp pointed tip. Such anthropomorphic archaic jade figures are associated with ancient ritual culture, symbolising spiritual guardianship and ceremonial power. The jade exhibits rich mottled colouration and natural patina, with fine incised linework defining the facial features and decorative motifs. The entire carving is finished with a smooth, aged polish that highlights the stone’s translucent quality. Dimensions: 16 cm x 5 cm
