A Very Fine and Rare Doucai

A Very Fine and Rare Doucai 'Sun' Stem Cup. Finely potted cup with steep rounded sides flaring gently at the rim. Wonderfully painted on the outside of the cup with a red/orange sun among green, yellow, aubergine, and iron red clouds. This motif is bordered on top by a single-line border at the rim repeated on the inside lip. The tall flared stem/ foot has two raised rings below a band of ruyi heads, The bottom of the stem has five different "shou" characters above a double-line border. On the bottom/inside of the stem/foot is a six-character horizontal Yongzheng mark in underglaze blue. mark and period of Yongzheng (1723-1735)
