A Victorian Diamond and Split Pearl Locket, circa 1880 a central star motif, comprising an emerald-cut emerald within a border of rose cut diamonds, to an oval surround of split pearls and blue enamel, to an outer border of relief work with a ropetwist edge, with a plain polished reverse, suspended from a decorative bale, total estimated diamond weight 0.05 carat approximately measures 5.6cm by 3.6cm
The locket is in fair condition, there is slight scuffing commensurate with age/use, the emerald is chipped and there is part of the outer frame lacking near the hinge. It bears no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as gold. The locket is hinged to the left and secures with friction. Gross weight 24.36 grams. CR made 02.09.26. A Condition Report is an honest expression of our opinion, not a statement of fact and is provided as a service to the Seller. All lots are available on public view ahead of an auction and we encourage people to see an item in person when possible. Our Condition Reports are not prepared by professional conservators, restorers or engineers, and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated. Works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. We accept no liability for the opinions expressed in any Condition Report.
