A Victorian English Silver Standish. Neoclassical style double inkstand with four hairy paw feet supports for the pen tray, two inkwells decorated with ram's heads and laurel swags. Center of inkwell is formed by a rectangular box with cover mounted with an oil lamp. Box is engraved "Colonel Honourable Hanford MacNider, B.A, LL. D. / On relinquishing his post as / Minister Plenipotentiary and envoy extraordinary / of The United States of America / In the dominion of Canada / From R.B. Bennett. / Ottawa, Canada. September. 1931". Hallmarked for London, 1891 and Walter & John Barnard 8" x 14" x 10" Wt: 60.30 ozt
