A Victorian Regina self-changing 27-inch disc musical box, in upright mahogany case with carved and pierced spandrels above glazed door and glazed panel, with separate motors for disc changing and playing, and magazine of 12 discs, cast REGINA and registration number 30228, 161cm high, 102cm wide, 60cm deep, together with a mahogany disc case, containing twenty discs, 80cm high, 79cm wide, 31cm deep Note: In 1894, the Regina music box company was founded by Gustav Brachhausen in Rahway, New Jersey. They quickly gained national attention and acclaim for their superb music boxes and were an overwhelming success in America. Brachhausen brought with him years of experience and talents honed at the Polyphon factory in Germany where he was in charge for years. Under his direction, the Regina Music Factory created a series of music boxes whose smooth, rich sound was unsurpassed.
