A Victorian Scottish silver four piece tea service, comprising teapot, twin-handled sugar bowl, cream jug and a spirit kettle, each of circular bulbous form with beaded rim above a stiff leaf border and reeded decoration to the lower body, applied handles of cream and sugar and wood handle of teapot also reeded with foliate terminals, handle of spirit kettle of differing design with plain wood and bead detail, all hallmarked Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh 1877; together with a matched spirit kettle stand with foliate pierced frieze and beading, hallmarked John Crichton, also Edinburgh 1877, and an unmarked removable burner. Height of spirit kettle on stand 14.5" (37cm). Gross weight excluding burner 86.96 ozt (2705 grams).

Condition Report:
- All pieces displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- Also a few minor surface dints and bumps.
- Likely engraving removal to all pieces. Seen more clearly on the teapot and sugar bowl as both have a yellow tone patch.
- Inset hinged lids of teapot and kettle with slight movement but both in working order and close almost flush.
- Teapot with some likely repairs along seam line on the handle side, seen more clearly to the interior.
- Heavy staining to interior of teapot and a clearly visible circular seam/construction line to base.
- Cream and sugar with gilt interiors, still fairly bright.
- Cream jug with slight damage and repair around the beading at the tip of the spout.
- Kettle with some seam lines also visible.
- Some slight edge nicks/knocks around tip of spout and a small blob can be seen on one side of the spout towards the middle.
- Wood section and fixing pins of handle are loose.
- The stand is a little distorted out of shape and appears to have been knocked on one side. None of the feet stand flat but one leg and foot are particularly affected as well as the central section containing the burner.
- The kettle does fit well on the stand and the chain and locking keys are present.
- Hallmarks with some rubbing and slight distortion but mostly clear and legible.
- Both lids with corresponding part hallmarks.
- No visible marks to the burner, locking keys and chains.
- Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
