A Victorian Watcombe Pottery moulded terracotta statue of the young "Dick Whittington", after model by Charles Bell Birch (1832-1893). Marked "C B Birch Sc 1874(?)", "The Art Union of London" to the back with small "Watcombe Torquay" impressed mark. 58 cm high. Generally good condition - wear, fritting and erosion to front of integral plinth, sculptor's name rubbed, 'stick' of the knapsack or 'bindle' shortened by break, restoration and overpainting to the knapsack, general wear and dirtiness.
