Condition Report:
- Surface scratches/ wear, some discolouration and few minor dents/nicks in keeping with general age and use.
- Shell cameo brooch - brooch surround electronically tests as approximately 9ct gold.
- Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
- Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.
- Brooch pin is base metal.
- Few fissures to metal around the edges of brooch.
- Split to shell cameo, visible from front of brooch; piece of material to reverse, cameo appears to be secure.
- Hairline crack to reverse of cameo.
- Black enamel brooch - some varied wear to the gilt metal on the brooch, base metal visible underneath.
- Patch of discolouration and small amount of file marks to reverse of brooch.
- Slight roughness can be felt to back of brooch.
- Some abrasions to glazed covering to hairwork component.
- Few minor losses and pitting to enamel.
