A Victorian high purity gold (tests 18ct) seal fob on a gold-mounted black ribbon. The foliate cast seal with a citrine armorial carved matrix, suspended on a ring bolt and foliate scroll pierced and mounted black ribbon, a chain terminating with a dog clip clasp, total length 15cm, 18.9g. The seal has some wear to the high relief carved decoration. There is no hallmark or makers mark on the seal. The bolts and the clasp is good and these test as 9ct, but no hallmarks. The fob seal weighs 12.3g. We would suggest an early 19th century age for the seal, but this an opinion only. The ribbon gold mounts test as 18ct.
