A Victorian mahogany extending dining table, circa 1860, with nine additional leaf insertions, the rectangular top with moulded edge above four carved substantial cabriole legs terminating in brass caps and castors, and two additional legs, , the winding action with applied plaque for SAMUEL HAWKINS PATENTEE, 54 BISHOPSGATE, LONDON, and serial numbered RX567, 75cm high, 137cm wide, 149cm long (unextended), approximately 670cm long (fully extended)

Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, Old splits and cracks, Chips, losses, and some replacements to veneers and mouldings, including repairs to the aprons to the leaves. Some of the tops of the leaves with scratches, also surface dirt, the leaves are of varying sizes, This comes with a winder, the action extending at time of report, Dreweatts have not had the table at full extension, the mechanism is quite tight and would probably benefit from a lubricate, this is a double action - it has two screws which are wound from either end. Overall may benefit from a polish The leaves appear to be original, these are numbered in masking tape to their undersides and the rails also with markings on, these appear to have a specific order of insertions The additional legs are probably original, they are different to the four to the corners but are of the period and the timber a good colour they have knocks, scuffs, and chips consistent with age and use Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition
