[ translate ]

A Victorian silver swing-handled dish, the shaped square form with raised sides ornately pierced and embossed with foliate, flower head and scroll motifs, with floral wreath engraving to the plain centre, further foliate decoration to the handle, and the whole raised on four scrolling feet. Hallmarked Martin, Hall & Co (Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall), London 1889. Maximum length measuring 9 3/4 inches (24.8 cm), weight 15.65 ozt (486.8 grams). The dish is quite heavily tarnished and would benefit from a clean and polish. Otherwise the overall condition appears fairly good, displaying some expected surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use. Some heavier scratches visible to the plain centre. Likely rim repairs around the joins of the hinges on both sides of the dish. The handle itself is in good working order and stays upright. The dish has a slight wobble on a flat surface. Hallmarks to the main body are a little rubbed but still clearly legible. With corresponding part hallmarks to the handle slightly distorted by the decoration.
