A Victorian sterling silver claret or cordial set, London 1875/77 by Martin, Hall and Co Comprising a jug and two goblets, the jug (1877) with an ovoid body raised upon a moulded circular foot, the loop handle with inset turned ivory insulators pinned to sockets, leading to a flat disc lid raised by a detachable ovoid finial. The bodoes with chased and repousse decoration of Romanesque arabesque arches reserved with foliate tracery and rosette roundels. The jug with registration diamond for 20th October 1875 and numerals 1943, each also engraved underneath J.W Benson, Ludgate Hill. Each fully and part-marked.
