A Victorian sterling silver patent opening vesta case, London 1878 by Wright & Davies, retailed by Thompson & Co
Of rectangular form with engine turned decoration, the lid with a vacant circular cartouche. The side with a wick holder with sliding thumbpiece stamped PATENT, the side with a striker which slides to open the sprung lid. Gilt interior. Fully marked to base and part-marked to lid, also engraved “Thompson & Co, 8 New Bond Street”.
