A Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette, Birmingham 1845 by William and Edward Turnpenny Of shaped rectangular form with waisted sides, the lid with a vacant C scroll cartouche, reserved with engraved foliate scrolls. The interior with a hinged pierced grill of engraved flowers with drill piercing. Fully marked between lid and base, the grill with duty mark only. Together with another vinaigrette, Birmingham 1803 by John Thornton, oval form, engraved to the lid with initials MR in cursive script reserved with oak leaves and rosettes, the underside with a lattice work. The gilt interior with a hinged grill of filigree work. Fully marked to lid, part-marked to base, grill unmarked. (2) Longest – 2.7 cm / 1.05 inches Weight – 17 grams / 0.55 ozt
