A Villanovan impasto ware urn, 8th Century B.C., the bulbous body decorated on each side with a central conical protrusion, surrounded by raised concentric ring motifs, surmounted by a slightly tapering columnar neck, with a flat circular rim incised with concentric circles, a strap handle joins at the bottom of the neck and the shoulder and a horizontal loop handle opposite, possibly not belonging, the vessel stands on a flared pedestal foot, also possibly not belonging, 40.8cm high. Provenance: Philip Goldman (1922-2012); acquired in London in the 1950-60s
