A WHITE MARBLE 'LOTUS' BASIN, UTTAR PRADESH, 19TH TO EARLY 20TH CENTURY
A WHITE MARBLE 'LOTUS' BASIN, UTTAR PRADESH, 19TH TO EARLY 20TH CENTURY
India, Agra. Finely carved, the shallow circular vessel is cleverly modeled as a fully opened lotus blossom, the interior formed by eight broad overlapping petals radiating from a small central boss. A second register of pointed petals emerges beneath, creating a layered floral profile with softly undulating edges. The smoothly polished stone displays a subtle cream and honey-colored veining throughout.
