Iran, 10th century
Of conical shape, with a straight rim, on a short circular foot, the earthenware body covered in opaque white tin-based slip and painted with abstract designs in black manganese, ochre yellow and copper red, the decoration possibly depicting a stylization of two birds facing each other, 17.5cm diam.
Provenance: Stephen Keynes (1927 – 2017), acquired at Spink & Son and other London dealers in the 1960's.
