A WILLIAM & MARY BURR OAK AND OAK SIDE TABLECIRCA 1690 71cm high, 82cm wide, 55cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old splits and chips. Top has a polished appearance. Some old but later nails securing the edge of the top. Handles are replaced but in period taste. Lock and escutcheon are possibly original. No key present, lock is open. Backboard of the drawer is later. Channels have been cut into the interior of the front and back of the drawer to fit dividers that are now lacking. Oxidisation and deposits to underside support that the top is original to the base. There are no marks or joins to suggest otherwise. Later drawer runners to the interior of the carcass. Some evidence of old worm. Glue residue visible to the underside of the top where the two boards of the to join. Some fragmentary losses to feet from old worm damage. One rear foot has been re-tipped.
