A William IV seven bottle silver cruet stand, the scrolled oval ring handle leading to reeded openwork supports for seven cut-glass and some silver-lidded bottle mounts with gadrooned rims, the whole upon a base of shaped rectangular form with engraved initials and conforming gadroon border, and raised on four bracket style feet. Hallmarked Edward, Edward junior, John & William Barnard, London 1834, height including handle 9.25" (23.5 cm), length of base 8.5" (21.5cm). Together with a later Fiddle pattern mustard spoon, hallmarked James McKay, Edinburgh 1855. Weight of stand only 21.2 ozt (659.5 grams).
Condition Report:
- The cruet stand displays general surface wear, scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- Some possible repairs between joins.
- One of the screw fastenings is missing from the underside of the base.
- The glass bottles display some minor chips, nicks and scratches, and some clouding to interiors.
- The silver lids of the glass bottles are original, displaying the same hallmarks as the stand. The handle section also with matching hallmarks.
- Ring marks to the top of the stand and the whole would benefit from a good clean and polish.
- Hallmarks rubbed in part but mostly legible.
- Some scratch engraved numbers to base.
