A William IV silver christening mug, the slightly flared rim to a bulbous lower body chased with a border of acanthus leaves, having a fruiting vine handle and raised on a footed base with petal shape rim and repeated acanthus detail, and a contemporary presentation engraving. Hallmarked Charles Reily & George Storer, London 1834. Height including handle 4" (10cm), weight 4.7 ozt (146.3 grams).
Condition Report:
Presentation engraving is around the edge of the foot rim and reads, 'Presented by the Rev'd Frederic Norris to his Godson Charles Norris Edwards. May 13th 1835.'
- Displaying some expected surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.
- In a heavily tarnished state and would benefit from a clean and polish.
- Slight compression to the foot and the short stem displays some creases in the metal.
- Hallmarked below the rim and these rubbed but legible. Maker's mark partly worn. Numbered to base 487.
