A William IV silver entr
A William IV silver entrée dish, of shaped oval form with applied scroll, acanthus and shell border decoration to the whole, the cover with engraved crest to one side and a detachable finial or handle of entwined acanthus leaf. Hallmarked Robinson, Edkins & Aston, Birmingham 1835. Maximum length 13.5" (34.5cm), weight 67.54 ozt (2101 grams).
Condition Report:
- Displaying general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing consistent with the age and use.
- Residues of polish, especially to the applied border decoration and finial/handle.
- A few minor surface dints and slight knocks around edges.
- Interior base with numerous heavier scratched marks and nicks. Similar marks to interior of cover.
- Some heavier contact marks around the base rim.
- Also on the base, there is a small dark patch to one area on the underside of the applied rim. Looks similar to an acid test mark.
- The cover fits fairly well to the base but does not sit flush. Base is numbered 2 and cover numbered 3. Handle numbered 2 also.
- Full matching hallmarks to both cover and base. Handle also with full marks apart from maker's mark. Some rubbing but all clearly legible.
