A William & Mary silver slightly tapered tankard by Christopher Canner, London 1689, the flat top domed cover with a fleur de lys thumbpiece, the broad S-scroll handle with a cartouche terminal, engraved with an armorial, on a moulded foot, 21cm (8 1/4in) high, 1326g (42.6 oz)
The arms appear to be for the GRIFFITH family of Penrhyn. The following is the blazon for this Welsh family: ermine, a chevron between three Englishmans heads in profile couped at the neck and bearded proper, a crescent for difference (second son). The family are identified as one of the first to become a landed family in North Wales.
Condition Report:
Excessive solder to handle and under base appears old, small dents in handle where thumb piece rests, no other issues
