A William & Mary walnut and ebonised chest of drawers, circa 1690, the rectangular top above two short and three long graduated drawers with moulded and ebonised detail, on turned bun feet, 100cm high, 99cm wide, 60cm deep

Provenance: Gayton Hall, Wirrall

Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old chips and splits. An attractive colour and with fair patina overall. The proportion having good 'status' in a room and being an unusual type of the period being walnut rather than oak and incorporating ebonised detail The ebonised detail with expected wear and not obviously refreshed. Some old repairs with some sections of replacement timber used in places (see images). Joints between the boards of the top are opening slightly. Handles and escutcheons are old replacements in period style. neatly plugged holes are visible adjacent to the current handles. Two lockplates are lacking. No key present. Feet are later replacements but have age. Some evidence of old worm. Slender section of one back board is a replacement Please refer to additional images for visual refence to condition.
