LOT 24

A William & Mary walnut cushion framed wall mirror, circa 1690

[ translate ]

A William & Mary walnut cushion framed wall mirror, circa 1690, the rectangular plate within a moulded frame, 51cm high, 46cm wide

Condition Report:
Marks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old closed splits as expected for age. Some minor fading. The mirror plate has significant age and bears expected depletion. The mirror plate is likely original. The rear panel appears original. As often seen with mirrors of this age and type, there are twin apertures to the reverse of the mirror where a surmount would have been secured. This is now lacking. Some old worm damage, mainly only visible to the reverse and the rear panel and not causing noticeable fragmentary loss. Some later screwed in fixtures to the reverse for hanging. This mirror is a good example of its type and is in original condition. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
